Readers Question: who lives in Lincoln Nebraska, “How does a life insurance trust work in Lincoln?”
Lincoln, Nebraska is the capital and the second most populous city of the state of Nebraska. Lincoln’s economy is fairly typical of a mid-sized American city; most economic activity is derived from service industries. The state government and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are both large contributors to the local economy. Other prominent industries in Lincoln include banking, information technology, insurance, and rail and truck transport. Three regional fast-food restaurant chains began in Lincoln: Amigos/Kings Classic, Runza Restaurants and Valentino’s.
Answer to readers question: life insurance trust is used to remove the assets and death benefit of the life insurance policy out of the insured’s estate for estate tax purposes. If the insured were to remain the owner of the policy, the policy procedes would be estate taxable at the time of death. This is a non-issue if your assets are less the the allowable estate tax limits.

Readers Question From Grand Island Nebraska.
Grand Island, Nebraska is a city in Hall County. Grand Island is home to the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center (NLETC) which is the sole agency responsible for training law enforcement officers throughout the state, as well as the Southern Power District serving southern Nebraska.
Every mid-September is the Husker Harvest Days. This is a show of the latest farm techniques and equipment. According to superstition it will always rain during Husker Harvest Days. Grand Island recently acquired the rights to host the State Fair. The state fair will still be in Lincoln until 2009. In 2010 Grand Island will begin hosting the State Fair.
Marilyn, thank you for asking. Start by asking your agent or company about your policy specifically. However, what typically happens is that if you have had a policy with the rate of a non-smoker for more than two years and need to file a claim, and the insurance company discovers that you are and have been a smoker, the company may take part of the death benefit to pay the difference in back premium between a smoker and non-smoker. So, in essence, the death benefit will be smaller to pay the back smoker premiums. The reason two years makes a difference is because the incontestibility clause may play a part in how the death benefit is paid or not-paid. In this case, it may not play a role. I would ask either a company representative anonymously or maybe even your agent.

Nancy now lives in Bellevue and her question is, “Does a drug overdose break a life insurance policy.
Bellevue shares its northern border with Omaha, its southern edge with Offutt Air Force Base and on east by the Missouri River. Bellevue is an interesting mix of the old and the new. The people in Bellevue are gracious and warm. Today Bellevue’s growth is primarily due to an expanding economy in the civilian sector. A new building boom is in progress for commercial, industrial and
residential construction..
Nancy, an accidental overdose of prescription drugs is in most cases covered. If it was an intentional overdose, most policies have an exclusionary period, typically 2 years I believe, during which death by suicide is not covered. There are also exclusions for “participation in illegal activities”, so if it was an overdose (accidental or intentional) of “recreational” drugs, Maybe not.
Please read the policy carefully, especially the fine print.
